What is equal opportunities responsible for at HMT?
Gender equality work is explicitly enshrined in the Saxon Higher Education Act as an ongoing institutional task and obligation for university management and their staff (Section 5 SächsHSG).
The core remit of gender equality work is set out in Section 56 SächsHSG. It aims to eliminate structural disadvantages in the artistic, academic and administrative spheres.
The role of the Equality Officer is, in particular, to work towards achieving genuine equality between women and men and to ensure equal opportunities for all members of the university.
- We support appointment and recruitment processes from the outset and are involved in organisational decisions to prevent discrimination.

- We provide information and support to students with children.
- We help to improve the balance between studies and family life, as well as between work and family life.
- We aim to prevent and avoid sexualised violence and abuse of power.
- In cases of conflict, we listen and can advise on possible courses of action.
