As a rule, a leave of absence must be applied for during the re-enrolment period, except for a leave of absence due to illness. Please log in to the HMT Campus with your account and open the study service. There you will find a button ‘Leave of absence’ which starts the online application for your leave of absence. First select the reason for your leave of absence application, then the desired semester. Only the current semester and a maximum of 4 semesters in advance are possible.
If you require a retroactive leave of absence, please select the current semester and be sure to leave a comment with a brief explanation. In the last step, upload proof of your reason and finalise the application. After the application has been processed, you will receive a status message on the HMT Campus. This may take a few days, especially for applications for internships, as the signatures of the Dean of Studies, Dean and Vice-Rector must first be obtained.
Studying at HMT is also possible on a part-time basis if this is provided for in the study regulations for the respective degree programme. The intended change of study mode must be applied for within the re-registration deadlines.
The student workload per semester is generally reduced to half of the full-time study programme. The lessons of a full-time semester can be spread over two part-time semesters. This does not increase the total amount of tuition required for individual lessons and group lessons in small groups.
However, any tuition fees (non-EU or second degree programmes) will not be halved, but must be paid in full.
The following reasons for part-time study are possible, the applications can be found under the following link.
- personal reasons
- while working
Before submitting your application, you should take advantage of the general study counselling offered by Ms Daubner-Mensching. There you will receive further information on the reasons or the division of lessons.
