The contact point for concerns and complaints
At HMT Leipzig, we are committed to respectful and inclusive interaction. If you feel disadvantaged, discriminated against or treated unfairly in any situation, you can contact our complaints body confidentially. Our different contact options are a confidential resource available to anyone from HMT’s community. A discussion with one of the contact options can help a visitor voice concerns, clarify goals and consider options so that they can make their own best decisions about next steps.
The Ombuds Office of HMT Leipzig is an independent person of trust who mediates in conflicts and complaints, provides impartial advice and supports the search for fair solutions.
The university's current ombudsperson is Professor Eric Schaefer. You can find his contact details at the bottom of this page.
An anonymous Kümmerkasten (care box) enables students and staff to anonymously report concerns, complaints or suggestions for improvement. The messages posted are regularly analysed in order to identify problems and find solutions. The drop box is located at Dittrichtring 21 (letterbox number 227).
If you would like to be contacted, please leave a contact option in your message.

The HMT Trust Team
The members of the trust team are university staff from various departments and are available to support students at HMT Leipzig in the following cases:
- Abuse of power and exclusion
- Sexual discrimination and violence
- Physical or psychological violence
- Bullying
Students who are unsure whether their concern falls within the team's remit are also expressly invited to get in touch. If desired, discussions can be held in the presence of a second person.
The trust team guarantees absolute confidentiality to all those seeking advice. Any disclosure of information or further action will only take place after prior consultation with the person concerned.
