Pregnancy during studies – maternity protection for students
The aim of the Maternity Protection Act is to protect the health of women and their children at work, in training and at university during pregnancy, after childbirth and during breastfeeding.
Maternity protection ensures that students are not disadvantaged due to pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding. Reporting your pregnancy/breastfeeding to the university is voluntary. However, you can only invoke the statutory protection provisions if you inform the university as early as possible that you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The earlier you report your pregnancy, the better the university can ensure your maternity protection.
