Masters degree in musicology

Students of the consecutive master's degree in musicology graduate as "Master of Arts" in a regular period of studies of four semesters. With its special "Leipzig profile", it offers a unique combination of scientific foundation with music scientific practise up to interdisciplinary linkage opportunities. The master’s programme offers individual opportunities for further education of both undergraduate students of cultural studies courses (especially musicology) and for graduates of art courses.

The aim is to enable students to participate in the musicological discourse and to independently conduct research, to identify multidisciplinary contexts of science and music and meet diverse varieties of scientific practise. This provides for a development of critical understanding of content, methods and applications of the discipline.

The master's programme is conducted at the Department of Musicology.
