Information on Master Classes and Application

The European Organ Academy Leipzig offers training and further education for organists. While active participation in the master classes is primarily intended for students and graduates (church music, artistic organ playing), passive participation in the master classes is open to all interested parties. The lectures and concerts are also aimed at the general public.

CHOICE OF CLASS

From the eight different master classes during the Academy a participant can select a single class or several master classes. The master classes DO NOT take place in parallel.    The date of receipt of the registration decides on admission to active participation (exception: workshop with J. Lang).  

The number of active participants per class is limited to 12 (workshop Lang: 5). There is no limitation for passive participants in the master classes.     

Working languages are German and English.  

**FEES (without workshop*)**

 Active participation: 140.00 EUR per class
 Passive participation: 90.00 EUR per class  
Day ticket: 30.00 EUR - to be purchased in the Academy Office.
The day ticket entitles the holder to attend all events of the respective day, i.e. courses (passive), lecture and concert.
The prices include transfers to places outside Leipzig.

Discount:  1) More classes (active or passive) means more discount:  

1 class: no discount 
2 classes: 5% discount 
3 classes: 10% discount 
4 classes: 15% discount 
5 classes: 20% discount 
6 classes: 25% discount 
7 classes: 30% discount  
8 classes: 30% discount

2) Early bird discount:

If you book by 31 May 2023, you will receive an ADDITIONAL 10 percent discount on the reduced price (not valid for workshop).
Example: If you book three classes „active participation“ in April, your cost will be only 340.20 EUR instead of 420.00 EUR.  

The registration fee includes the admission to all events (master classes, lectures and concerts) in the phase of your class. The registration fee also covers all bus transfers from Leipzig to the venues outside of Leipzig and back.

After your online application you will receive a confirmation including a request for payment via bank transfer to the Agency „Dreh- und Angelpunkt“ which manages the class fees for us, and you will get recommendations for various accommodation in Leipzig.

WAITING LIST

If you would like to participate actively in a class for which we opened a waiting list, please apply as passive participant and write into "comments" that you want to be an active participant. We will get in touch as soon as somebody resigns.

Fees: Active participation: 70.00 EUR (no discount)
 Passive participation: 20.00 EUR (no discount)

Deadline for active participation: 31 March 2023. Applicants will be informed by 15 April 2023 whether they can actively participate.

CONDITIONS OF WITHDRAWEL

If you provide a substitute participant who definitely agrees to participate, you will receive a full refund.
In all other cases the fee will be refunded as follows:   

Withdrawel by 30th June 2023: 100% refund   minus 18.00 EUR service fee
Withdrawel by 21st July 2023: 50% refund   minus 18.00 EUR service fee
Withdrawel after 21st July 2023: NO refund.

FURTHER INFORMATION

All transfers start and end at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater, Grassistraße 8.
Participants must book their own accommodation.
Active participants can practise on the practice organs of the HMT. The allocation takes place via lists in the academy office.
